The Sport Air Racing League is comprised of numerous airports, organizations, and volunteers who make our exciting sport possible. Each host plays a vital role in keeping the spirit of cross-country air racing alive - providing safe, well-planned courses, warm hospitality, and unique local experiences for racers and fans alike.From small regional airfields to major aviation hubs, these partners represent the heart of grassroots aviation and the camaraderie that defines the League. This directory recognizes both current and past race hosts whose commitment continues to fuel the adventure of sport air racing across the country.
Jim & Donna Wilson
Years in SARL: 12+
Jim, a financial advisor, and Donna, a veterinarian, have been members of SARL since 2013. In an effort to help grow the league, they decided to host their own race in 2023. Since then, the Bluegrass 150 in Cynthiana, KY has been well attended. Though they were both initially nervous about hosting, it turned out to be far easier and more rewarding than they expected.
“Because other hosts and racers gave us so much support when organizing our first race, we both wanted to mentor other new hosts. Last year, two members started races in Florida and North Carolina and accelerated the growth of SARL. Every new host has echoed our thoughts: it was far easier and way more fun than expected!”

Lou Toth
Years in SARL: 2+
Lou hosted his first race in 2025, the Pre-Fun 145 in Crestview, FL after only two years of SARL membership. With the help of the Wilsons and other members of SARL, it was a great success and served as a wonderful preliminary event for Sun N Fun. Lou enlisted support from numerous sponsors as well as members of EAA Chapter 108.
Lou lives in Pensacola, FL and races a Sonex that he built. He’s already planning the 2026 Pre-Fun 145 to be held the weekend of April 11, 2026.

James Redmon
Years in SARL: 10+
James is a veteran SARL racer and has hosted the race Cleburne race in Texas. He lives in Frisco, TX.

Richard Kaczmarek
Years in SARL: 14+
Richard is an avid dreamer and has been a dedicated aviation enthusiast since a very young child. He attended his first race as a spectator in 2009 while working in Texas, and by 2011 he decided it would be fun to host a race of his own in Urbana, Ohio during the annual Mid Eastern Regional Fly-In. With guidance from Mike and Linda Ely—hosts of the Indy Air Race—the event was a great success and sparked a passion for creating aviation events with a purpose.
Since then, Richard has raised nearly $60,000 in donations for local race-area charities. Together with his wife, Wendy, he has hosted approximately 27 aviation events over the past 15 years. Richard has flown a variety of aircraft throughout the years and currently owns and races a vintage 1958 Cessna 172.
He hopes to see the league continue to grow by bringing in new pilots who want to enjoy time with fellow aviators, have fun, and experience more from flying than just the classic “$100 hamburger.”

Though he has been an avid SARL racer for years, Michael hosted his first race in 2025 at Dare County Airport (MQI) in Manteo, North Carolina. A huge success, the local airport authority is extremely supportive of and expecting the return of the race in May 2026!

Dave Anderson

Dave has been a member of SARL since 2019 and served as Chairman from 2023-2025. He resides in Trophy Club, TX and began hosting the Mark Hardin Air Race Classic in Terrell, TX in 2023. For anyone considering hosting a race, he wants you to know that hosting a Sport Air Racing League race is always a great time! Many new people to meet, interesting and unique airplanes flying in, and a spirit of friendly competition that brings out the best in everyone. It’s a fun, energetic day that celebrates flying, community, and the joy of going fast with friends. LET’S RACE!
